The Ancient and the Ascended

(Arcknight) What's up RespectYGOers! I'm back and this time, we are going to tackle about a ritual monster that can be considered as a good handtrap this format.

Have you heard about "Sauravis, the Ancient and the Ascended"? Not yet ? Just now?
It is a beautiful dragon ritual monster debuted in INOV (Invasion: Vengeance). Here's the whole effect:

Sauravis, The Ancient and the Ascended
LIGHT/ Dragon / Ritual/ 7
ATK 2600
DEF 2800
You can Ritual Summon this card with "Sprite's Blessing". During either player's turn, when your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a monster you control: You can discard this card; negate the activation. During either player's turn, when your opponent would Special Summon a monster(s): You can return this card from your field to the hand; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, banish that monster(s).

Why this card is something that you should look into? Well, let's take a quick overview of the things that it does:

  1. It has the ability to negate most generic threats in the game like "Castel, the Avian Skyblaster", "Number 101: S.H.arknight", " Compulsory Evacuation Device", so on and so forth. Not to mention that it can also negate effects so it can also hinder "True Draco Revival" / "True Draco Apocalypse" destruction effects.
  2. This card is searchable by "Herald of Arc Light". So after negating something, you have a decent hand trap to search ready to negate something else.
  3. Hand trap meaning it is not susceptible for backrow destruction.
  4. If you are using some kind of ritual deck and you are able to summon this guy, it negates special summons and banishes the cards to the shadow realms. (lol) It bounces back to your hand so you can negate once again.
  5. Nice artwork so even though you draw it and found that you don't have use for it and you're about to lose, you can just look at its artwork all day at your satisfaction!
  6. Ignore number 5.

Seems good on paper but it is outclassed by better handtraps like "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring", "Maxx "C" and "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit" due to how versatile the latter cards are. Depending on meta and to your liking, this card can be useful in some decks/situations where targeting is rampant. As I am eyeing on playing a more "Yang Zing" oriented Dinosaur Deck instead of the "True King", I might get a copy of this in the near future. I haven't tested them yet as I am still figuring out how consistent the "Yang Zing" version is but I sure will. What about you guys, what are your thoughts on this card?
